The Dance DJ

DJ Mark-e-Ting your Dorset, Devon and West Country DJ

Performance-led dance sets that keep people moving, staying longer and enjoying the night.

DJ Hire that’s built around the dancefloor

Great DJing is about more than playing a list of songs. It’s about reading the room, building the energy and knowing when to hold something back and when to let it go.

From weddings and private parties to pubs, bars and outdoor events, I create dance sets that respond to the people in front of me.

A DJ should do more than press play

Anyone can build a playlist. The difference comes from knowing what to play next.

I mix live, watch the dancefloor and adapt throughout the night. Sometimes that means following the energy. Sometimes it means changing direction completely.

Requests are welcome, but the aim is always to make them work as part of the night rather than simply playing songs in the order they arrive.

Your music. Your guests. One dancefloor.

There isn’t a fixed playlist.

Before the event, we’ll talk about the music you love, the tracks you definitely want to hear and anything you’d rather avoid.

On the night, I’ll use that as the starting point and build the set around the people actually on the dancefloor.

Expect everything from house, disco and funk to dance classics, pop, indie, R&B and big singalong records when the moment is right.

Frequently Asked Questions

You’re booking a full DJ performance, not just someone turning up with a playlist. The price includes my travel to and from the venue, plus all my DJ and mixing equipment. I can either plug into your PA system (if you have a venue) or bring my own speakers and lighting setup.

Usually not, and it’s for a good reason. My sets are built like a story: a gentle lift, a little tension, the release, and then the next wave, so the dancefloor keeps feeling better and better as the night goes on. That said, I’m always happy to hear requests. If something fits the energy and the flow, I’ll work it in. If it doesn’t, I might park it for later, rather than dropping it in like a sudden cold splash that dilutes the flow.

Yes. We’ll have a simple written agreement so we both know exactly what’s included, timings, expectations, and the practical details. It keeps everything clear and relaxed, so you can focus on the fun stuff.

Yes, I have £5,000,000 of public liability insurance through Insure4Music.

I’ll usually arrive at the venue one hour beforehand and will require easy access for loading of heavy equipment.

Most definitely yes. I am very happy to discuss residencies at any local venue.

If this is for a local public event, such as a pub, bar, club, or restaurant, then yes, I am very happy to create an event on my own social channels and share it widely.

Of course, if this is a private booking (not open to the public), no, I will not be sharing.

Pubs, clubs, and bars work great, as people can sit comfortably whilst they listen at the beginning and I can get the whole venue warmed up nicely.
